Matthew, my son the pianist, plays many kinds of music, from Billy Joel to Scott Joplin, from Claude Debussy to Andrew Lloyd Webber. I love to watch and hear him play. Sometimes I sing along. But my favorite songs are the ones he improvises, just playing whatever comes into his head. Most of these songs drift off into the ether.
